7 Days in Mexico: Every Outfit I Packed in a Carry-On (All Linked)

If you’ve been following along, you already know I never check a bag. Not for a weekend trip, not for a week in Mexico, not ever. And before you ask — yes, I brought everything I needed, looked cute the whole time, and walked straight past baggage claim with zero regrets.

This post breaks down every single outfit I packed for 7 days in Mexico, all in one carry-on. I’ll show you exactly what I brought, how I styled it, and link everything so you can shop it directly. The best part? Most of it is affordable, a lot of it is from Amazon, and every single piece pulled double or triple duty.

That’s the elevated carry-on way. Not expensive. Just intentional.

What I Packed For: A Week in Mexico

This was a warm-weather beach trip — think pool days, beach time, casual dinners, and a travel day on each end. I needed outfits that could handle sun, sand, and a little humidity without taking up an entire suitcase.

The Outfits

Beach

For beach days I packed three swimsuit options. The key is choosing a coverup or wrap that works with more than one suit — that’s how you pack light without sacrificing options.

Look 1: Striped Bikini + Orange Cover-Up Set

Look 2: Colorblock Bikini + Black Ruffle Cover-Up

Look 3: Red One Piece + Black Pareo

Packing tip: The tan hat and nude slides work with all three beach looks. That’s how you keep your bag light — anchor pieces that go with everything.

🏃‍♀️ Exercise

I always pack at least one workout outfit. Even on vacation I like to move — and having a cute exercise look means I’ll actually use it.

Two full workout looks, one tank, one visor, one pair of sneakers. That’s intentional packing.

☀️🌙 Day or Night

This is my favorite section because it shows exactly how carry-on packing should work. I brought 3 pairs of shorts and 6 tops — and got 6 completely different outfits out of them. Every pair of shorts works as a casual daytime look or gets dressed up slightly for dinner. Mix and match, dress up or down. Simple but stylish!

Green Shorts — 2 Ways

Navy Shorts — 2 Ways

Light Blue Shorts — 2 Ways

3 pairs of shorts. 6 outfits. That’s elevated carry-on packing.

✨ Elevated

Every trip needs at least one outfit that feels a little more put-together — something you could wear to a nicer dinner or a day of exploring that doesn’t feel like you’re in workout clothes. I knew this was going to be a more low-key, casual trip so I didn’t bring anything too fancy, but its always nice to have an option to dress up a little more if you want.

The Blue T-Shirt Dress

This dress is the definition of elevated without being expensive. Dress it down with sneakers for daytime, add sandals and a crossbody for dinner. One piece, two completely different vibes.

✈️ Travel Day

Travel day outfits are their own category. You need to be comfortable on a plane, look presentable enough for an airport, and ideally wear your bulkiest items so they don’t take up bag space.

Travel Day Look:

Wide leg pants are a travel day game changer. They feel like pajamas, look like real pants, and pack down smaller than jeans. Wear your sweatshirt on the plane so it doesn’t take up bag space.

The Carry-On Packing System

All of these outfits fit into one carry-on because of how I packed, not just what I packed. Check out the full system here.
