Wymara Resort Turks & Caicos Review: Our Experience, What We Loved & What We’d Change

“Planning a trip to Turks & Caicos and wondering if Wymara Resort is worth the splurge?”After researching every top luxury resort on Grace Bay (you can read that post here), we finally chose Wymara — and it ended up being the perfect blend of boutique luxury, incredible service, and the calm turquoise water Turks is known for.

In this post, I’m breaking down our full experience, what we loved, what we’d change, and everything to know before booking — all from a carry-on-only traveler’s perspective.

Check out all the resorts we considered here: The Best Turks & Caicos Resorts for Families and Couples

Why We Chose Wymara Resort

We considered every major luxury resort on the island — Seven Stars, Grace Bay Club, The Shore Club, Sailrock, The Palms — but Wymara kept rising to the top for a few reasons:

Boutique size but still upscale: The resort feels intimate without being small. You get luxury service without the crowds.
The calmest stretch of Grace Bay: On windy days, the water stayed calm and swimmable.
Newly renovated, modern rooms: Clean, bright, modern, and perfect for travelers who appreciate design and comfort.
Not overrun with kids: Family-friendly but still peaceful — a great balance.

Our Room: Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite (Upgraded from a Studio)

We originally booked the Oceanfront Studio Suite, but when we arrived, we were upgraded to the Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite — and it was absolutely worth highlighting. The layout, views, and extra space made the stay even more relaxing, especially for a longer trip.

The upgrade didn’t change our opinion of the Studio (it’s still an excellent choice), but the One Bedroom gave us a luxurious amount of room that elevated the entire experience.

What We Loved About the Oceanfront One Bedroom Suite

  • Separate living area with plenty of space to spread out
  • Large bedroom with floor-to-ceiling ocean views
  • Full kitchenette (surprisingly useful for breakfast + snacks)
  • Huge bathroom with modern finishes
  • Patio with walkout access to the beach and ocean views — truly postcard perfect
  • Bright, minimalist design that felt modern and calming
  • Perfect natural light for photos

If You’re Debating Between the Studio vs. One Bedroom

  • The Studio is perfect for couples who don’t need a lot of space and want a lower price point with the same oceanfront views.
  • The One Bedroom is worth the splurge if you value a separate living space, extra storage, and a larger bathroom — especially for longer stays or if you enjoy slow mornings in the room.

Note: We were upgraded at check-in based on availability. Upgrades are never guaranteed, but Wymara’s staff made the process seamless and welcoming. If the One Bedroom fits your budget, it’s truly worth the extra space.

Little Touches We Loved

One small amenity that I absolutely loved — and honestly wish every high-end resort offered — was Wymara’s pillow menu. You can choose from several pillow styles (or request multiple) and have them delivered right to your room. As someone who is very particular about what pillow I sleep on, this felt like such a thoughtful touch. It made our room feel even more comfortable, and it’s the kind of detail that sets Wymara apart from other luxury resorts.

Another small touch that really impressed us was how quickly the staff responded to special requests. We asked for a yoga mat so we could do morning stretches on our patio, and they delivered one to our room within minutes. It was such a simple thing, but it made our mornings feel even more peaceful and intentional. The level of service at Wymara truly feels personal — nothing is too much trouble.

Pools, Beach & Amenities

The Beach

Grace Bay is already world-famous, but the section in front of Wymara is exceptionally calm. The water has that perfect turquoise you see in photos. We loved that Wymara is further away from the action so the vibe was a lot more chill. You can also walk as far down the beach as your heart desires. I walked to nearby Smith Reef (which is highly recommended for seeing sea turtles) and that was just a little more than a mile away.

Beach chairs were plentiful, service was quick, and food + drinks are delivered right to your spot. I highly recommend the fish tacos! We also really loved the shrimp spring rolls.

The Pool

Beautiful design, upbeat but never overwhelming. Plenty of chairs even during peak times. It’s nice that they have a hot tub too. We personally loved spending more of our time at the beach but this would be a good pick if it was too windy on the beach — You don’t get the same beach breeze in this area.

Fitness Center & Spa

Small but functional gym. Most of my cardio was spent walking on the beach but was able to do my simple weight routines in here just fine. We didn’t get the chance to use the spa but definitely try to fit it in if you can!

Dining at Wymara

Wymara’s food exceeded our expectations — fresh, beautifully plated, and full of variety. They rank among the top restaurants on the island!

On-site Dining Options:

Indigo

Indigo is one of the most coveted dinner spots on the entire island — guests from all over Turks & Caicos come to Wymara specifically to dine here, and after our meal, it’s easy to see why. The restaurant blends elevated island flavors with global influences, and the result is some of the freshest, most beautifully prepared food we had on the trip.

One of the highlights of our evening was meeting Chef Andrew, whose passion for his craft is immediately obvious. He personally curates the menu using the highest-quality ingredients, including fresh fish imported from his home in Australia and premium New Zealand beef. The seafood selection is exceptional — clean, bright, and incredibly fresh — while the beef dishes are richly flavorful and cooked perfectly.

Every plate feels intentional and refined without being overly fussy. The flavors are vibrant, the ingredients are pristine, and the dishes showcase a level of care you don’t always find at resort dining.

If you’re staying anywhere on Grace Bay, Indigo is absolutely worth the reservation, and it books quickly — especially during peak season. Pair the experience with one of their cocktails or wines and plan for a slow, relaxed meal. It’s one of the standout dinners of the whole island.

We ate dinner here twice on our trip and loved it both times!

Blue Water Bistro

Blue Water Bistro was another standout dining experience during our stay at Wymara. We happened to go on a Thursday night, which is their famous seafood buffet, and it quickly became one of our favorite meals of the trip. Think all-you-can-eat lobster, sushi, sashimi, crab legs, crab cakes, salads, fresh fish prepared in several ways, and more. The quality was incredible, and one of the best perks is that resort guests only pay for one person, making it an easy yes if you love seafood. The beachfront setting, live entertainment, and bonfire made the whole night feel like an island celebration.

Most of the beach and poolside lunches also come from Blue Water Bistro, and the food was consistently delicious. We especially loved the pizza, fish tacos, and shrimp spring rolls—fresh, flavorful, and perfect for a long day by the water. They also offer a second buffet on Sunday nights, which is more meat-focused and features Chef Andrew’s 24-hour smoked brisket, along with a great variety of sides, salads, and desserts. With its beachfront location and relaxed but elevated atmosphere, Blue Water Bistro is easily one of the can’t-miss dining experiences at the resort.

Pink Bar

The Pink Bar at Wymara is one of the resort’s most iconic spots — a chic, beachfront lounge known for its stunning hot pink design and creative craft cocktails. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a drink before dinner or watch the sunset with your feet in the sand. The vibe is relaxed but stylish, the music is great, and the cocktails are beautifully made. Whether you stop in for a quick drink or linger for the view, the Pink Bar adds a fun, modern touch to the Wymara experience.

Breakfast

Breakfast is included for guests, and it’s served at Indigo each morning with a generous spread: made-to-order omelettes and eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, pastries, breads, juices, bacon, sausage, and more. It’s the perfect way to start the day before heading to the beach.

Bottom Line:

Even though Wymara only has two restaurants plus the Pink Bar, the options are wide enough that you could easily eat on property the entire trip without feeling limited. And if you want more variety, it’s an easy walk across the street for a quick bite or a short taxi ride into town for additional choices. Breakfast is also included and served at Indigo each morning, with made-to-order omelettes and eggs, waffles, fresh fruit, pastries, breads, juices, bacon, sausage, and more — the perfect start before heading to the beach.

We also spent a day at the Wymara Villas Beach Club, located on the opposite side of the island. Even if you’re staying at the main resort, you can purchase a day pass, and it’s absolutely worth it. It offers a completely different vibe — quiet, private, and beautifully designed. I’ll be sharing a full review soon because it ended up being one of our favorite parts of the entire trip.

What We Loved Most About Wymara

The staff: Every interaction felt genuine and warm.
The modern design: Clean lines, calming colors, beautiful architecture.
The location on Grace Bay: Truly the best part of the island.
Boutique feel: Never crowded, always peaceful.
Great food options: Lots of dining options at or near the resort.
A modern outdoor seating area at Wymara Resort, featuring round wicker sofas with pink cushions, surrounded by palm trees and a well-maintained garden, with the resort's architecture in the background.

What Could be Better:

Everything is expensive: This is true across the whole island, not just the resort.
Limited Nightlife: Amazing for a relaxing trip, but not ideal if you want a nearby party scene.
Not as kid-friendly: Perfect for a couples getaway but less activity heavy for kids.
Less walkable: Long walks on the Beach? Definitely! But walking to nearby shops or other resorts? Be prepared to take a taxi.
Small fitness center: It worked for my simple workouts, but would feel tight with more than 3 people doing weights. Luckily not a dealbreaker!
