Chasing Sunshine and Finding “The One”
After sharing in my last post, Planning a Warm Getaway During the Winter, about wanting to escape the snow-covered mountains for a little sunshine, the real fun began — researching where to stay.
If you know me, you know it doesn’t take much for the wheels to start turning once the idea of a trip pops into my head. I love diving into research — comparing reviews, scrolling through photos, and reading about people’s firsthand experiences. I like to know exactly what makes each property special.
This trip was just for my husband and me — a last-minute, kid-free getaway. We wanted something luxurious but laid-back, comfortable yet refined, and close to the beach without being in the middle of the party scene.
What We Were Looking For
When narrowing down the list, here’s what mattered most to us:
- 🛏️ Comfortable, modern rooms (bonus points for ocean views)
- 🏖️ Direct beach access — no shuttles, just sand and sea
- 💰 Good value with a touch of luxury
- 🚶♀️ Safe and walkable to explore nearby resorts or restaurants
- ✈️ Easy access from home — Turks & Caicos checked every box for a warm-weather destination just a short flight away
The Contenders: Every Luxury Resort I Considered
I think I looked at every 4- and 5-star resort near Providenciales. Some were easy to rule out (dated or mixed reviews), while others made my final short list.
Below are the ones that stood out — and how we made our decision.

The Shore Club (Long Bay Beach)
📍 Location: Long Bay Beach
⭐ Vibe: Serene, away from the crowds
Pros:
- Stunning design and architecture
- Quiet, upscale atmosphere
- Awarded “Most Instagrammable Hotel” multiple years
Cons:
- Farther from Grace Bay (the island’s main beach area)
- Less convenient for exploring restaurants and shops
💭 Why we passed: For a shorter trip, we didn’t want to spend time commuting or switching hotels.
Sailrock Resort (South Caicos)
📍 Location: South Caicos
⭐ Vibe: Remote, private, and ultra-luxurious
Pros:
- Secluded, tranquil atmosphere
- Private villas with plunge pools
- Incredible ocean views
Cons:
- 30-minute flight from Providenciales
- Limited dining options on the island
💭 Why we passed: It reminded us of our stay in Lanai — serene and beautiful — but we didn’t want to lose travel time on a short getaway.
Salterra Resort (South Caicos – Marriott Autograph Collection)
📍 Location: South Caicos
⭐ Vibe: Contemporary luxury
Pros:
- Brand-new and modern
- Beautiful design and great amenities
Cons:
- Lacks the secluded, boutique feel of Sailrock
💭 Why we passed: Gorgeous, but we wanted something with a more relaxed, personal vibe. It seemed similar to what we could find in Grace Bay but with a lot more time/travel involved.
The Palms (Grace Bay)
📍 Location: Grace Bay Beach
⭐ Vibe: Classic Caribbean elegance
Pros:
- Beautiful architecture
- Lush tropical grounds
- Known for an excellent spa
Cons:
- Slightly busier beach area
- Higher price point
💭 Why we passed: Lovely, but felt more traditional than what we were looking for.
Seven Stars Resort & Spa (Grace Bay)
📍 Location: Grace Bay Beach
⭐ Vibe: Polished resort energy
Pros:
- Spacious suites
- Central Grace Bay location
- Great family-friendly amenities
Cons:
- Some reviews mention inconsistent service
- Pool area can get crowded during peak season
💭 Why we passed: Tempting, but we wanted something quieter and more romantic for a couples’ getaway.
Grace Bay Club
📍 Location: Grace Bay Beach
⭐ Vibe: Elegant, upscale, and timeless
Pros:
- Iconic resort with a long stretch of beach
- Adults-only pool
- Spacious villas and refined service
Cons:
- Some rooms (in the main building) are less updated
💭 Why we passed: It was almost perfect — but unfortunately, fully booked for our dates.
Wymara Resort & Villas
📍 Location: Grace Bay (near Bight Reef)
⭐ Vibe: Contemporary luxury, quiet, beach-focused
Pros:
- Clean, modern design
- Set on a peaceful stretch of Grace Bay
- Excellent beach access and snorkeling nearby
Cons:
- Slightly farther from other resorts and restaurants
- On-site dining can be pricey
💭 Why we chose it: Wymara struck the perfect balance — luxurious but not flashy, quiet but not isolated, and offered the best overall value for the experience.

The Winner: Wymara Turks & Caicos
After hours of comparing photos, reviews, and locations, Wymara felt like the perfect fit.
It’s known for its modern design, calm atmosphere, and incredible stretch of turquoise water — ideal for beach lovers like us who prefer relaxed luxury over a lively scene.
We’re close enough to explore Grace Bay but far enough to feel like we have our own private corner of paradise.
